candles

April 21, 2014

So...this post is about candles. I just really like candles and felt the need to express my fondness for candles. Lol! Candles are typically made of wax and a wick. You can get candles in most places, but if you are like me and care about quality, check to make sure you are getting your candle from a good manufacturer that follow standard guidelines for candle production. I normally go to Yankee Candle and Bath and Body Works, as they have a nice variety and are members of the National Candle Association. The most common wax used in candles is paraffin, but soy, beeswax, synthetic, and gels are used too.

No specific type of wax is better than the other, but all the mentioned types are the same in usage and safety. Make sure you choose scents that you and others are comfortable with as I realize some people may be sensitive to certain scents. I am also going to say to make sure the wick in your candle is NOT lead as lead is hazardous to the environment, but since the USA (if you reside there) has banned production of lead wicks since 2003 you should be fine. Always check just in case wherever you are.

Most IMPORTANT to remember is to NEVER leave candles unattended. I absolutely love candles, but I always make sure to be around when I burn them and when I am done blow them out before leaving them alone. Also follow instructions as to how long to burn candles. It will always say so on the label. So go ahead and get some candles!!! Trust me you will feel good. I promise lol. :)
